Hi Carly I really enjoy all of your articles and I'm enjoying watching the birds in our back yard. The Indigo Bunting you saw when you were here is still coming to feed. It is such a beautiful little bird. I hope you have fun in Florida and see lots of different birds while you’re there.

Here in Central Illinois, we frequently see Turkey Vultures - circling around carrion. They help keep the roads clear of dead animals. It's one of those things I find fascinating, but revolting at the same time. We stopped one time to try and get an up-close picture of a Turkey Vulture sitting on a fence post. Bad idea! This was a huge bird - over 2 1/2 feet long. As a warning - it projectile vomited to keep us away. Glad It didn't hit me or the car. Their stomach contents are pure acid - ewwww!

Holy cow, that’s so wild! I had no idea they could vomit as an intimidation tactic. Their stomach acid must be powerful to digest all that rotting meat without getting sick! I see them soaring here a lot, and a couple of weeks ago I got to see a group of six of them or so all roosting in a tree pretty close to the ground. They are so strange looking with their tiny bald heads! Such cool creatures.
