Thank you Carly for so clearly expressing the feelings many of us have at this moment. I always look forward to your thoughts and observations - from today, even more!
Carly, you write so very beautifully! I am distraught as well about the outcome of this election. I am very worried about our country! Instead of hopping in a garbage truck or working at McDonalds, I wish our newly elected president would have gone outside in the great outdoors, and enjoyed the beauty of our land, in the hope that he too can see the marvel in nature and want to preserve it. Unfortunately, I do not see that happening. Congratulations on your new job! I think it sounds fabulous! How exciting that you get to share your love of nature with children, so that they may learn to appreciate what God has given us.
Thank you for such as well thought out and written post. As for the election, 65+ million Americans voted for our future. 70+ million voted for the party they always voted for, for change (remember how many Bernie voters voted for Trump instead of Hillary? (They voted for change rather than ideology.) Some voted out of anger, hate, fear. What we do now, will to paraphrase Gandhi, is to be the change in a way that will reduce fear, hate and anger and have these voter desire another type of change. A kind one.
Amen, Joanne. It is deeply frustrating that the Democratic Party has not managed to put forth a candidate that represents both the dramatic change people want and the compassion and kindness we need. I hope they will take this as a lesson to be much bolder next time. In the meantime, we'll focus on what we can accomplish at the local level. Thank you for reading!

Truth! Love this Carly. Keep your chin up. They can take a lot of things from us - but not our thoughts. Always be your authentic self - a deep thinker and an animal lover. You make us proud.
